The fall haute couture collection from Armani took a cue from Japanese culture with a sleek take on kimonos. Using pastel accents in the form of floral motifs and feminine bows, the Armani Privé look was perfected by hats designed by reknowned milliner, Philip Treacy. Overall, the long and form-fitting silhouettes made for a sophisticated and regal effect.

Doesn't matter it is for couture or ready to wear, Jean Paul Gaultier manages to put on a show with a polished flamboyancy like no one else. For the fall 2011 season, Gaultier created garments which juxtaposed sophistication and whimsy with lightweight feathers, rebellious leather and fur accents. Referencing previous collections as well as producing some new tricks, the French designer offered his own brand of couture with the grandiose showing.

Louis Vuitton’s fall 2011 presentation was an extravagant affair complete with elevators, bell boys, french maids and even supermodels on the runway. Updating ’40s silhouettes, creative director Marc Jacobs sent out a parade of characters which seemed to have an underlying fetish theme complete with leather, handcuffs, pantless outfits and masks placed on chauffeur hats. Highlights included the appearance of supermodels Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Carolyn Murphy, leather pieces worked like lace and lovely sheer numbers. It seemed that for Vuitton’s latest collection, the indulgence of fantasies was more important than ever.
